Entertainment has changed for a bit! We’re changing too
For us, on March 10th, 2020 live entertainment came to a screeching halt. Within 4 business days we lost almost 15% of our annual bookings.
Like most companies that are heavily vested in the college market we spent thousands of dollars marketing to sell entertainment in March and April that has now vanished. Like most in our business, that income saw us through the slow season of summer. That’s changed for this year. And no lie, it’s going to be tough.
That being said, if you’re an administrator or an activities director or programmer at a campus – we know you’ve had an extraordinarily difficult week too. All the work you did in researching acts, submitting contracts, getting facilities approved – all gone. Plus you got the added joy of having to contact all of us to say our income was gone. I don’t relish you that job.
Our response has been – we’ll figure it out. Of course, you’re not responsible for this.
And more, our response was… what can we do to ease your pain and make YOUR life easier.
What we came up with is a streaming, live game show that we’re calling “Trivia Stream”. It’s created and streamed live to your students (with only them being able to win) as a virtual event.
We think the concept we’ve come up with is solid, engaging and will work well. That being said… who knows. This is new territory for all of us.
We’re asking that you give it a try. Especially if you’ve had to cancel an event with us. It’ll help us make it through and survive as a business – we’ve all got families depending on us. And it’ll help you stand out as proactive programmers who are looking to adapt to the new landscape.
We’re also offering two levels of payment. The first is payment for the show itself (less than 1/2 of a live performance and no travel costs, meals or lodging) and the second is what we’re calling our “Advantage package” where you can pick how much you want to pay and the balance carries over into a time when we’re all doing live performances again.
Here’s how this can help YOU. 1. You’re able to spend the budget you have for this school year on exactly what it was budgeted for – programs for your students. 2. If you spend that money this year, you get it next year. There may be exceptions made this year to this policy, but usually, if you don’t spend it, you don’t get it again. 3. We give you added value on anything that is carried over – so you’ll save money on next year’s budget too.
Of course, you don’t have to do the “Advantage Program”, but it’s there for you if you want to use it.
